Jan 21, 2009 11:50

Wow - I just wanted to make a quick post to say that at the last minute (like, last Wednesday) I decided to head down to LA and check out the Battlestar Galactica auction! I was finally convniced to go after checking out the auction web site where they stated that Friday would be a "Preview" day with costumes and props on display - and people could ( Read more... )

Wow! That sounds like so much fun!

Michael Hogan is one of my very favorite actors - I love his work with Colonel Tigh (my fav character!) and I was so impressed with him as a real person when I met him at D*C last year!

Yeah, Tigh is one of my favorites on the show too. He just makes me laugh, and I really felt for him in the last episode when he told Adama he was his friend because he wanted to be (letting him know their friendship was genuine, not programming ( ... )

LOL - as Mr Hogan and I are both Canucks, I am not surprised to learn he wears a toque* regularly :-) It would totally suit him!

*You can also spell it tuque.

Haha, I knew I was not spelling it right but didn't want to take time to research it. Yeah, I think he was saying it's common for people in Canada to wear those hats and we figured the costume designers just thought he might as well wear one on New Caprica since they were making funky fleece hats for everyone. (I seem to remember the designer said that they had fun playing with fleece and making funky hats for people on New Caprica).

That is so so cool! I'm so glad it turned into a costumer event and that they were nice about appreciating costumed volunteers - and wow, letting someone wear a real costume?!

That's awesome!!

Yeah, I'm not sure how Mystique got to wear Kat's costume. It might have been because she wore her Duty Blues on Day 1 and whoever made them was way off on the shoulder fit (no offense to Mystique - I think people were ordering blues from someone who didn't do fittings in person and I'm fully aware how hit and miss it can be to just build a suit based on measurements). So, someone there was probably nice and let her wear Kat's Green BDUs?

Ok, just looked at your pics - and WOW, it's even cooler than I thought! To get pics with the real sets and props - it's like getting a chance to photograph your picnic costume in the real picnic meadow or something!

Your pics are great - and I wish I had a BSG costume (and lived locally) just to have the experience! Very cool. Great pic of you and Michael Hogan too! :-)

If you don't mind me linking to your albums when you're done, I'd love to do so. :-) Just because it's really cool!

Yeah, I was just BLOWN away and soooo glad I went down there because I had no idea that it was going to be like this.I thought at best stuff might be on display Fiday only and the people working the costume booth would be hesitant to show you anything unless you were a known high-roller Sci-Fi collector. If David and I had known they were allowing people to be in costume and take photos in the ships he would have booked a flight for like Friday night and I would have packed my costumes! So I was begging him every hour on the phone to please come to the auction becuase it was something we shouldn't miss! Well, he doesn't respond to begging. He responds more to the 'I'm missing out on the fun and seeing lots of cool stuff' and 'People other than my wife are asking if I'll be there' so I emphasized that stuff to him. I'll post more about that later ( ... )

BTW - they are planning another big auction in May... right after CostumeCon on my Birthday! So far it's looking like they want to have costume volunteers again so I guess I'll get home from your place then drive down to LA the next day!

Yeah - I had so much more fun that I had expected! I didn't know I'd be able to dress up in costume and get inside the Raptor :)
