Rebel Cheerleaders - taking orders

Apr 15, 2009 10:29

I know I have some friends who were contemplating the Rebel Cheerleader uniform. Orders are now taking place at the Rebel Legion and close on May 3rd. They only do runs a few times a year. I'm not sure when the next run will be. These are a lot of work for Beth to coordinate, so I wouldn't be surprised if she has to limit the runs to something like ( Read more... )

woooo so excited!!!! Finally doing it this year.

So...do you think it would be a big deal if instead of pom-poms I had a hula hoop in Rebel Legion colors? ^^'

Also...I noticed one girl had orange go-go boots, but most everyone was doing white...are we not restricted on the boot choice? I'll probably go with white because I think it looks better.

Annnnd...I think that's it...OH, I also noticed that so far in pics all the gals have the long-sleeved add on. Is that because all the photos so far have been from gals who live in colder areas? Like you in Nor Cal. I'm looking at just getting the no sleeve top because it's never THAT cold here in So Cal...on the other hand if I took it to wear to Cheer gatherings to cons like Wonder Con and Dragon*Con, I could see it coming in handy.

*spazz*

Hoola hoop - that's a new one! Kind of Like Kristin and her Hoola Hoop group I guess? I think the Cheerleader uniform is open to wide interpretation for us to have fun with. It's not an official RL costume.

That's why you'll see us with all kinds of boots. I've seen silver, white, and orange worn so far. My dumb white boots were too big in the calf and I didn't realize it until it was too late to return them. So don't get the 'pleaser' gogo boot. I can't remember what brand Jessica got, but here's were the fit I was looking for.

All the cheer tops are sleeveless. It's just some of us in colder climates additionally ordered the long sleeve body liner. So far that's been New York and our little group in San Francisco. So if I wear this to D*Con or Comic Con I will wear the shell w/o the body liner since it will be hot out. It was nice to have the sleeves at WonderCon though, I don't like my arms ;)

yeah I got totally gung-ho for the hooping when kristin first started mentioning it...but she went crazy with it and I...bought a hoop and barely practice >.>

We've got some things planned though ;)

But we totally found this one Australian hoop site, and one of the color combos they did were Rebel Legion colors - orange, white, gray w/stars. haha, can you believe it?! Kristin is off making her own hoops and taping them herself, so she can make any color combo she wants...but I freaked when I saw that a premade hoop already existed with an RL motif.

Do you know if/when the gathering will be for SDCC and D*C?

Nope, I don't know about any planned RL cheer gatherings yet. I hope they will not be during Battlestar Panels - that's all. I suspect the girls out on the East Coast/midwest will want to organize the gathering at D*Con.

However... for the West Coast it will probably be up to me, you, Caitlin (Jaina M Solo), probably Joan (if she decides to wear it again) and anyone else who might get in on this new run? I know that Jessica (orange boot Cheerleader) is probably not going to the con unless they go for Thurs/Fri and commute from a friend's home in Orange County (I already warned them that's gonna be rough).

We'll have to plan something closer to the con. It's tough because some of us are both Rebel and Sith Cheerleaders. Plus there is the 501st photo shoot, Rebel Legion photo shoot etc to coordinate around. :(

I totally want to get in on this, but with the wedding coming up, I'm not sure if I can yet :( I may have to put it off until next year. The exchange rate is horrendous at the moment!

Totally understandable, weddings are expensive and gee... a little more important too huh? I'm surprised your exchange rate is bad, I would have thought the US economy was the one in the tank so any exchange rate would have been in your favor? Sorry to hear AU must be suffering too :(

Something I've been meaning to ask - do you know many girls also get the briefs? Did you get a pair? I'm tempted to get a pair in white or orange for the modesty of twirling...and would probably want to iron-on some lettering like "Rebel Booty" or "Imperial Scum"...I have to think of something good in case an ass shot were to come up.

Oh yeah, most of us get the cheer brief. Those skirts can really flip up! Mine's a little longer than I like but I'm too lazy to hem it. Close enough, but could have easily been an inch shorter. I personally went for matching orange so it wouldn't be like 'woo - I see white undies' glaring out when I moved. The orange blends with the skirt. It depends on the statement you want to make though ;)

Beware, the sizes run super small on the cheer briefs. Enough to give a thin girl a complex. I wear size 2 in women's Jeans... but I was size large in the briefs! And they are a snug perfect fit. I couldn't have worn Med. I'm just sayin... follow the measurement chart. I think it's becasue they are made for like, little Jr High and high school girls?

Some gals the Rebel Cheerleader patch on their bottom. I like "Rebel Booty" :) That's cute.

Do you think everyone seems to be favoring go-go style boots for the footwear? Though we're "cheerleaders" I haven't seen anyone go with sneakers, ya know? XD

You'd have to check the recent chatter on the Cheerleader threads. I know some mentioned just wanting to wear sneakers but I have not seen it yet. I think Caitlin (JainaMSola) was one who tried on her costume with go-go boots but was then thinking she might want to do sneakers instead to keep it more like a high school cheerleader? I'm not sure.

In hind sight, my feet were killing me by about 2:00 or 3:00pm. Those cheap gogo boots are so uncomfortable. I can usually tolerate heels fine (I can wear my silver ANH Leia pumps all day no problem), but there is something about those boots. I think my foot was sliding forward and just having too much pressure on the ball of the foot.

I really want to get on this run, but the exchange rate is awful at the moment, I don't think I can justify it at the moment :( I was really looking forward to being a cheerleader at D*Con too, as I don't know the next time I'll be at a US Con.

I like the look of the white gogo boots, but for comfort, I was thinking along the lines of the shoes I wear for my Heroes Claire costume, but I'd be keen to see how they look with the outfit.

Yeah, it's too bad the exchange rate is poor for you right now. I mean, I know there is always a difference you have to factor it (same goes when I order things from the UK.)

Does Clair wear tennis shoes? I can't remember. But wearing regular cheer tennis shoes would look appropriate too and others have said they might wear their uniforms that way.

Last year the exchange rate was around .80c (when I bought my slave leia kit), but it's now around .50c...

This is Claire's first season outfit (hard to find a pic that shows her shoes) -

Either way, I'll be there for the photo shoot to take photos :)

Too bad the exchange rate it so bad when you are planning a trip! Hopefully it will get better.

Yeah, cheer tennis shoes would be cute too for just a traditional cheerleader look. It would be like how most Sith Cheerleaders wear boots, but a few have tennis shoes and those are cute too.
