Thanks, I like the color of the fabric better in natural light so that's why I asked David to please photograph me outside. The greenery was nice too (nice blurred background). I was trying to tell him (but he was not paying attention) I wanted these to be my "good" photos because my hair took 2.5-3 hours to do and I was not going to be doing it again just to take photos under studio lights at home! Haha :)
Yeah, timing of the funeral sucked in some ways, but was good in others because I already had a hotel and travel planned to Los Angeles. Just kind of made me in a sad mood.
It was good seeing you in passing, your costumes were all lovely and I was surprised when I checked with David and he hadn't happened to get pics of your costume Saturday night! That figures :)
Oooh, wonderful! Costume college looks like so much fun. Your Marie Antoinette gown looks fabulous, as well! *_* A lot of costumers talked about doing MA gowns (myself included) but most of us haven't actually done it. Now my MA costume bunnies are nibbling again... :)
Hey! Are you going to Dragon Con again this year? Yeah, I'd always wanted to do a Marie Antoinette gown (took a lot of notes at FIDM a few years ago) and Sister Sola finally got me to dive in last Halloween. I finished it up for Costume Con in April (but never posted my costume con pix!) There are things that didn't work as I hoped but who knows if I'll ever bother to fix the dress at this point. I hope I'll have time and find another excuse to try another gown in the future :)
And yes, Costume College is fun on a different level than conventions. Classes all day long where you are bound to learn something that helps you with a project in the future. I've learned a lot of great stuff there!
To tell you the truth, I dont' know right now if we are going to Dragon*Con or not. I had to cancel Elphaba because I ran out of time (even though I started last August and have been working on it at least once a week!) and that leaves Lucius and Narcissa as my new costumes. They aren't done either, and they aren't very fabulous, so it's hard to rationalize spending the money. I mean, if we had money laying around I would LOVE to go, but we have been short every month for a long time and it just seems like a bad decision right now. =/
We already bought our badges, so it's just gas and hotel to worry about. I think I'm going to see if I can get Lucius and Narcissa done without stressing too much; if I can and I love them, we might still pack it up and go. :)
I hope we can..this would be my first year since 2000 without a convention or a new costume. I have worked so hard all year on my costumes and it is unbelievable to me that they are still not finished ;_;
Oh no, I'm sorry about not finishing Elphaba :( I know the feeling of working so hard on something and not being done after a year. (Went through that with the now infamous purple senate dress). I have had years where I was upset I had nothing really new to wear to the con. But once I got there I had fun because I did have costumes to wear and most people don't care or remember if it is something new or not! It's just hanging out and having fun.
Though, I understand if you are stretched on your budget too. Can you get your money back for your badges? If you think you can go to Atlanta on a budget I bet you'll have a good time though, especially since you have not gone to a convention yet this year :)
Thanks :) The hair didn't turn out quite like Kirsten Dunst but it was the kind of idea I was going for. Period correct or not, my hair just did what it did!
Thanks :) I always nit pick my stuff - haha! And yeah, I'm feeling more OK now about my friend now that I'm back at home. Seeing everyone and just realizing she is gone was rough. Lots of tears, but at the same time - we visited and laughed so it was a real mixed weekend. Mostly sad though.
I know - but your stuff is awesome. I wouldn't just say that! ;-)
It's really hard losing friends - and having to socialize right after must have been tough. I'm glad you had friends at the funeral though, even if it was bittersweet. :-(
