To be honest, I keep a pretty firm division of my fandom stuff and my rl stuff. I have a separate blog on blogger which was opened for the sole purpose of keeping in touch within a circle of some of my friends. Even if the bonds from the circle has weakened I still occasionally use that blog especially when I feel overly emotional and need a place

But anyways, I think we should be friends (or at least, I'm friending you :D) because I like your icons and can't wait for your wallpapers. Plus I owe you a favor (fic, I mean <3) and we're both Kurobasu fans!
I think reading this piece (among other things) was what convinced me to join my university's anime/manga society as well. Around parents and family friends (I go further and divide my irl friends into little circles and don't ever. let. them. mix. XD), yeahhh no, never casually telling them "oh yeah, I've been writing porn for years" but! I was actually dragged into fandom by a RL friend.
So.... while I'm not going to say "the internet is all the friendship you'll ever need!", I definitely think that people can be friends online! xD ......anyways, sorry for rambling *embarrassed* and thank you for the inspiring (?) post! I hope you did end up joining that club, and perhaps enjoyed their ( ... )

I'm so glad that it inspired you to join your uni's animanga society - I just find that in a western country there's this huge stigma placed on people who enjoy animanga and that's just not right.
I definitely think people can make friends online! Being in this transition between high school and uni - I think I've got to get used to making new friends even if I'm not too good around people /awkward laughter/ and I'd like to think that applies to my online interactions too. Most sites just aren't fun without some sort of friends :P
I did end up joining that club but I haven't been going to many of the events because my uni is just so far away from home. (BTW, I'm sure I read somewhere that you were at the University of London which is the uni I want to get into for my exchange - not that I ever could get in but I can hope....)

Yes, I definitely agree! Although.... well, for me, most of the things I write on the internet are individual!things (*cough* fanfic), it's still a lot of fun to be able to chat with other people and, uh, hear their opinions? Especially when they're super talented and passionate-about-what-they-do, to boot! ;D Oh, but when it comes to MMORPG's? *cough* I love being able to grind away for /hours/ with no one to bother me. *terrible person, I know*
Oh, yes! :) DO you know which University of London campus you're aiming for? I'm personally over at University College London (the best one, of course~! *shot* [Okay, well, we're the biggest, at least. ;P]), but since uni only lasts three years here..... uh, I might not be here when you exchange? You're over in Australia, right? Well, best of luck on your exchange program(me) and if you /do/ come over here, feel free to drop by! ^^
