twinkies anyone?

Stuart Wilde wrote this a few years back... but it still stings with the truth...

The Day the Fat Go Hungry....

I’ve seen the day when the fat go hungry, the day when it’s all taken from them. The arrogance of indolence will bring them down.

I rolled up at a fancy hotel to pick up a friend and in ( Read more... )

there are plenty of fat people who are not bad people. For some reason, I've met a lot of nurses who are overweight, other folks in the 'caring professions'...fat is a good insulator against bad feelings.

But, yeah, I know some ego-driven talking-eating-machines too...and I have to say that most days I have a really hard time finding compassion for them. But it's important to try and find it, anyway.

Everyone wants to be loved, liked, understood, and respected. Some people find healthy ways to do that. Others just become physically and spiritually malnourished even while hundreds of pounds overweight.

I hope the future isn't all that bleak. I saw a lot of good in humanity after 9/11 and Katrina. Bad, too. But I still have hope.

This is very offensive. Fat people are people too, they are no less bad then skinny good looking people who are evil and bad in other ways.

And why are all the fat examples here women?

Um, this really isn't about being physicaly overweight. Although, that is an aspect of what is being written.

was not meant to be offensive, and I know all of you and you size...

I don't think ANY of you are "fat" in the sense of the woman that stuart was talking about...

I believe he was referring to the grossly obese that are addicted to food and then whine when they can't get more...

large is not fat...

and I struggle with weight myself, and all it really takes is exercise and not eating as much...

sorry to offend, the point I think is in OVERCONSUMPTION as food is a drug and many, many people can't leave it alone...

ok so I read each persons response... kayakman January 18 2009, 01:04:22 UTC

and thought about what Stuart wrote...

I think in our sensitivity to our own struggles with weight (mine included ) we missed the point...

people will have to help EACH other in the coming hard times, including feeding other folks, and the ones that will whine the loudest and suffer the most, are the ones who have let their food addictions get the best of them and their body...

please don't take it as offensive, just as a truth that is to be understood and applied...

:)
