I just made THE BEST brownies ever. holy shit.
I don't know whether the recipe is repeatable or not, since I only loosely followed the instructions, and I vaguely guessed at measurements since I don't have a measuring cup. But if I can make it again ... oh boy you are all getting brownies for xmas.
they are seriously so good.

1/2 cup butter [half butter, half margarine], melted
1 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract [i always use way more]
2 eggs
1/2 cup [whole wheat] flour
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
In a large mixing bowl, blend butter, sugar and vanilla. Add eggs; beat well with a spoon. In a small bowl, combine [add] flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt; gradually blend into wet mixture.
Spread batter in lightly greased and floured 8- or 9-inch square pan. Bake at 350° for 20 to 25 minutes, or until brownies just begin to pull away from sides of pan. Prepare icing and frost while brownies are still warm.

two parts butter
three parts margarine
lots of parts cocoa
a billion parts icing sugar
a tablespoon or two or more of vanilla extract
use a fork to mush up the butter and margarine, get it so the lumps are as small as possible. if you are richer than me and you have an electric beater, you could use that.
add icing sugar, mix it in. add more icing sugar, mix it in. add a bunch of vanilla, mix it in. add more cocoa than you think you need, mix it in. maybe mix in some more icing sugar. taste the frosting throughout this process, and make adjustments as necessary.
