In my opinion, that in *no way* makes you uncaring. Everyone experiences tragety in their own way. Some people were *far* more devistated by Katrina compared to myself. I thought it was dreadful what was happening and I still think it's dreadful. However, I know there are many more people whose emotions are far more invested than my own.

I think sometimes people think of sympathy or empathy as pity. I think that when it comes down to it, people don't want pity, but honest and sincere sympathy is usually taken for what it is intended to be. Don't beat yourself up for your emotions about today. Remember in your own way and others will remember in their own.

I don't think you are an uncaring unfeeling selfish bitch at all. I am like you in the sense that I have stronger feelings for the suvivors, and those who lost someone that day. I feel for the kids who had their parent(s) ripped from their lives in such a brutal way. I think your reaction is totally normal to be honest. If I didn't have the whole thing touch me, I would feel the same way.

And, if I am being totally honest, I get really mad about the whole thing. Because we had all this world good will and it has been blown in a specticular way. But, that's a different rant.
