Oh, the joys of living alone.

Which, by the way, are not many for me this week. Yes, the food I made this weekend is lasting forever because I don't have to share leftovers. Yes, my freezer contains only ice cream, vodka and bagel and no one's going to change that. Sure, I spent all day Sunday listening to NPR and rearranging my living room and no one said boo ( Read more... )

My evening was a bucket of fail, I tell you. Except for the part where at least the duststorm quieted down by the time the baby cops arrived so their shiny new uniforms didn't get too mussed.

(((hugs))) that is scary. and really, I don't feel like the baby cops did anything. No offer to do drive bys? Hopefully your neighbor just went out of town suddenly ( ... )

There really wasn't much they could do - nothing had been stolen and since the door is unlocked, no one had really broken in.

And you are so right about having someone to check in with - I talk to my family often, but my supervisor (a mom herself) has let me know that because I'm single, if I don't show up for work in the morning without calling in, then she'll start calling around to check on me.

I'm very glad you have a cop living nearby - I approve of passive security!

*hugs* I'll be happy to have my neighbor yell at me for invading her privacy and to have a couple of kids cry because I took away the keys they hid during some game. I'm all for that!

Bleh. Yes, that's not funtimes.
*hugs*

Do you have a landlord you can call, and have them check on her? Or do you own? I have no clue. Sudden disappearance with mail left out does *not* sound good.

*sends calm, safe vibes*

Unfortunately, the units in the complex are all individually owned - and I know she owns hers. It's not uncommon for her to go out of town for a few days. It's also not uncommon for her to let her paper sit for a few days. But this is definitely longer than normal.

I want all weird things to desist occuring immediately! *wraps self up in vibes*

Blerg. Having lived alone for many years, those kinds of nights when *things happen* and you're unsettled? Suck! Hope you've been able to relax and get some rest. Check-in calls to the family are reassuring...definitely go elsewhere to sleep if you need to. Coming back in the light of day will make it easier to settle in like normal again.

Yeah - those unsettled nights are the worst part of living alone. I did sleep - although Not Helpful Cat kept staring out the front window with huge eyes. I'm pretty sure she was picking up on my nerves and not actually trying to freak me out, but either way it wasn't what I needed to see. Everything did look better in the morning.
