Not a happy monkey.

Met with the doctors again yesterday regarding my frank breech baby. This time we brought our birth plan, etc. Now earlier in the week we had a meeting with the midwife and had a long discussion with her. What she's telling us and what the doctors are telling us are two different things, and all of the recent medical journals that I've been able to ( Read more... )

It frightens and infuriates me when I hear stories like this, and I realize just how little consideration is given to women once they become pregnant--whether they are carrying that pregnancy to term or otherwise. It seems the focus is on everyone but the person most immediately and intimately impacted: the pregnant woman.

I'm so sorry that you're having to go through all this. I can't imagine how stressful and frightening it must be. ::hugs::

It really is hard to find a doctor that listens well to the patient, especially in a situation like this where it's treated like your a Model T on a Ford Assembly Plant.

I think from an insurance perspective and from a level of "professional" versus midwife, that has a lot to do with it as well. Many doctors have seen the stupidest things people will do to themselves, so I think they tend to lump everyone (unjustifiably so at that) into this all patients are idiots category. Which is wrong, but seems to be the prevalent outlook they share.

I've had you and Xen in my thoughts through all of this. {:) I will hope beyond hope that things level out and somehow, someway, this goes well, in the best possible ways.

Dude, that's seriously messed up right there. Allow me to give you some massive *HUGS*.

I'd like to be a xenophobic biotch and say that OKAY, WTF IS UP WITH THOSE NETHERLANDS GUYS?! But I don't know how much better the docs in the US are... except that perhaps you have a much easier time "shopping around" for a different doctor here.

And here I thought Europe was much more progressive with the whole, let the midwives help determine the birth plan thing. What happened to that?

I don't know what to say but I definitely think your concerns are valid. I really thought they didn't do episiotomies right away anymore. *hugs*

I was very lucky to have a decent doctor with my sons birth. I was NOT okay with getting an episiotomy. I didnt get one and I was very happy about that. I also wasnt going to allow a c section unless someone was going to die if we didnt. The one bad thing that happend with my sons birth was they put me on pitiocin because my body wasnt dilating at all and I was having all back labor.. well that made the back labor worse so I ended up giving in to an epidural. It wasnt what I wanted but after I got it my labor went by so much faster and easier because I relaxed... Sometimes things dont always go as planned but try to keep it on the path as best as you can.
