Lenten thoughts (under the cut) and B2MEM

Feb 26, 2020 12:58

For Lent, I've decided to try and post to my Dreamwidth journal every day. I'm also giving up buying fast food (mindlessly, for myself. If mom asks me to get it, that's up to her.)

Today is Ash Wednesday, though I don't think my non-denominational church is having a ceremony for it. If it is, I haven't heard it being talked about. Anyway, I've signed up for a daily prayer reading to meditate on. I'm hoping the focus will also help me focus on my writing. We'll just have to see what happens.

1 Peter 5:6 - "Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you," (ESV)

Humility...I don't consider myself particularly prideful, but I admit I haven't given humility much thought, either. It's definitely something to think about, particularly today.

Anyway, so B2MEM - or Back to Middle-earth Month, though I think most people who are friends with me on here know that (even if they don't participate, as I haven't shut up about it on Discord, FB and so on) - is fast approaching. It runs March 1-31, and late entries are usually welcome. I'm excited to participate, as I always am, though I feel a bit sad this time as it's the last year the Silmarillion Writer's Guild will be hosting it. I know Zhie is thinking over things to continue it, so it's not going away, but it feels like the end of an era.

Huge thanks to the SWG mods for all their hard work over the years!
