the only thing I've seen Matt Smith in is the adaptation of Phillip Pullman's A Ruby in Smoke
He apparently plays the same character in A Shadow in the North. Don't know if you caught that one. I should see whatever the first one is in that series; I loved His Dark Materials to pieces.
Erp. He's not cute. But then again, neither is Christopher Eccleston in a photo, and possibly not even David Tennant; it's the way they play the character that makes them so wonderful. I reserve judgment :)

oh yes, I've seen both. you may remember visiting me two Februaries ago, and it was superbowl sunday and the special ep of Criminal Minds was airing? you watched a bit of The Ruby in the Smoke with us before going into the study for CM. ^_^ A Shadow in the North is the sequel (2nd book out of 4), and Masterpiece Theater finally aired it last summer. (the blighters.) I really hope they get around to making the third one. these four books were the first I read by Phillip Pullman, back in 7th grade.

yes, I'm trying to, too. time feels like molasses thinking about these things, though!
Very peculiar that I am the same age as this new fellow. Maybe I should lobby to be the next Doctor after him...? ;)
I do find it ironic that they keep going younger and younger with this new lot. I had a very fond (if impossible) mental image of Alan Rickman as the Doctor.

this is just what I meant to say! I was reading about Matt Smith and going "wait - he's 26? that can't be right! the doctor has eons of years and experience on me - what's he doing at 26?" I like looking at the lineup of Doctor Who mug shots here. Matt Smith doesn't fit in yet - hopefully when he gets all Doctorfied he will. *g* also - the name Matt Smith causes confusion on imdb - sorta funny about 'smith' as a last name, considering how often the Doctor uses the alias 'John Smith' and 'Mr Smith'.
