Supernova!!

Today's Hubble Release, a 30th Anniversary image of Supernova 1987A. Which you may recall took place in the Magellanic Cloud which is really about as close as i care to be to a supernova... :)

Nah, you're quite safe from even a Supernova at a mere hundred or so parsecs. A thousand if you have delicate gear in space.

Space is *big*. :-)

Grin. All the same, I'd rather watch it in the next galaxy over - fewer stars in the way without being uncomfortably close.
