I have the dishes of Sisyphus

I wash a rackful when I get up in the morning.  By the time I get home in the evening (or maybe by the time I leave in the morning), the sink is full again.  In the evening, if I'm home, I wash another drying-rack full.  After dinner the sink is full again.  Each day, I try to make a further dent in the pile.

For me it's laundry, mostly because I can clean the kitchen and have it stay clean for as long as I can talk the guys into eating out (sometimes two meals in a row!) but laundry is never completely finished. Even if the hamper is empty, the dryer is empty and the couch is clear of all clothes, there's still the pile of unmatched socks on my dresser. Or what we are wearing.

"I need a robot maid."

I would be quite happy to have a wife. The job description, not the gender stereotype. Someone to keep the apartment clean, and cook, and make sure I get out the door on time in the morning.

(Of course, the other parts of the role would be nice too.)

In the past, I have offered roommates free or reduced rent, in exchange for taking over the cleaning (depending on how much they are willing to take on).

I have also offered to buy the shared groceries, in exchange for my roommate making dinner (with leftovers for lunch). It comes out to the same or less than eating out! And healthier too.

I wouldn't mind someone to help out with after-school care, either, though I'm not sure I could deal with another adult in the house. Robots don't have emotional needs. 8-)

Heh, the best roomie I ever had was pakka, who was on the GI Bill when we were in college. We'd plan out menus, he'd buy the groceries, I'd cook for the both of us, and we cleaned side by side. He got to eat food that wasn't Subway and Mickey D's and I got to eat food that wasn't ramen or crackers stolen from the coffee bar at the Student Center. We even had similar tastes in tv and movies.

And he didn't borrow my clothes.

Best. Roommate. Ever.

I know there are others of you that have the Sisyphean Dish Curse as well.

My good friend used to have only one set of dishes to eat off of. He had to wash them imediately. Doesn't work if you enjoy cooking.
