Baby Lambs!!

And I got to watch them being born!! Coolest thing -EVER- to do on a Thursday night. A friend of mine lives on a farm and she and her husband have sheep... it's spring, so they've been delivering lambs for the last week or so, and they invited us up to see the new babies last night. Adorable. And then we got the special treat of one of the mama

Oh, yes, lambing is one of those wonderful signs of spring. My husband and I went to Boston for the weekend and on the way back today stopped at Sturbridge Village for several hours. At one of the farms was a lamb born yesterday. I was raised on a family farm in Ohio and saw lambs born but it has been years since I have seen such a new one. Alas my city-raised daughters have not had this experience. As I walked away, I kept thinking of Blake's poem, which begins:
Little Lamb, who made thee?
Dost thou know who made thee?
Gave thee life, and bid thee feed,
By the stream and o'er the mead;
Gave thee clothing of delight,
Softest clothing, woolly, bright...
