D: This one time, I was in a thrift store, and was wearing Andi's sunglasses, and even though they are not super-expensive or anything, she likes them and has told me not to lose them or break them like I do with pretty much everything. I'd been sort of fiddling with them, because it was too dark to wear them indoors, but my hairstyle made it awkward to put them on top of my head, then I was digging through a box of electrical cables (my hobby: cheap cat5) and then a few minutes later I realized I wasn't holding the sunglasses. And I was like, OH GOD because if you have ever seen that thrift store, it is piles and piles and piles of STUFF, and I had been pretty much everywhere in it, it would be like Where's Waldo only WORSE. So I ran around all frantic for a few minutes, panicking because I will NOT LOSE/BREAK ANY MORE OF HER STUFF I AM SUCH AN AWFUL FRIEND, and then I passed a mirror and saw them. On top of my head. I'd stuck them there, awkward hairstyle or no ( ... )

I am torn between laughing and going "there, there".

If it helps, I think I did the "where are my glasses oh I'm wearing them" thing as a kid (wouldn't now as the contrast is pretty remarkable) and the other day I went "aaaaah where did I put it" over something I was holding in my hand. -_-

Ahhh, I do that all the time. With everything.

Neon sounds like a fine idea. OR MAYBE THEY COULD GLOW IN THE DARK.

If I have to take my glasses off for something, I often hang them by one earpiece from the front of my shirt, where I can't misplace or forget them.

When I was 15 I had a blind room-mate for a while, and picked up from her the habit of always putting things down in their Designated Place. It's a very useful habit; I realized that even though I'm sighted, in certain ways I interact with my environment as if I was not, remembering objects' positions more by their relative position to other objects than by their visual appearance.

Of course, living with other people who move stuff around plays Merry Hob with this, but it still works in principle, and might work for you as well: set things down where you can find them with your eyes closed, and you'll always find them.

There used to be these novelty thingamajigs where you could whistle for your keys, some years ago. Maybe they would be useful for glasses, appropriately miniaturised. (ponders.)
