I'm adopting the following policy for grad school: "Do whatever you want for as long as you can defend it." Things that are going to cause me to be miserable are not going to increase my productivity....
Prioritise? Make a rota you can keep to - if that's possible. Don't engage in 'SJ' and focus on your PhD? Probably easier said than done. We all need an interest outside of work/school, or we'd go crazy(er?).
But perhaps prioritising each day as it comes along may help? "Today I must..." any time left over can be spent doing other stuff.
Try a timer? Limit how much you do on SJ to say, half an hour. Set the timer. When the timer goes off, go on to PhD stuff for say...two hours. Set the timer. Then maybe write for half an hour.
