Approximately 1 tbsp of dried loose Nymphaea caerulea flower pieces was placed in a dry marble mortar and pestle. ~3 minutes of grinding showed little effectiveness -- the petals were very resistant to pulverization. 1 tsp of dry granulated white table sugar was added to the mixture, which greatly enhanced the grinding action. Well, a class assignment wouldn't involve testing any sort of experiment by ingesting it. Especially a shot of an herbal tincture made with vodka! I put this writeup in this format so that I'd be able to submit it to Erowid if I found any results.

However, you are right that I'm not into DIY recreationals. I am interested in N. caerulea flowers for entheogenic use, but to my mind that's very different from recreational drug use. It's like the difference between, "I'm going to have a new experience of my mind, and I'm confident that I'm going to learn something valuable from it," and "I'm gonna be trippin balls tonight!"
