All I want for Christmas...

Okay, a for-serious Christmas list this time. Not that the previous one wasn't serious, but I'm posting this for family who wants ideas.

1) Atlas of Foreshortening: The Human Figure in Deep Perspective by John Cody and Ron Tribell. Or, any anatomy books that focus on the parts of the figure such as musculature and the skeleton ( Read more... )

I hope I remembered the right title - from the sample pictures it looks like the one I remember from my undergrad program. My professor had that book and it was an INCREDIBLE resource. It focuses on all those weird poses you can't ever find anywhere else. And it has over 300 pages of them.

We have a Jerry's shop a few towns away, and since it's the only local 'real' art store, that's where I go when I need supplies. I'll admit, they're not my favorite store. When I was in Atlanta, I was spoiled rotten by Binders and Sam Flax, two amazing (HUGE and competitively priced) art stores. Jerry's is, in my opinion, overpriced and they have a poor selection of product.

I still remember a few years back when I went in asking if they had any Strathmore illustration board, and after the lady insisted it didn't exist and I kept saying it did, getting a lecture about how SHE has been in art supplies for YEARS and SHE knew EXACTLY what Strathmore offers and there is NO SUCH THING as Strathmore illustration board.

...you know, nevermind the fact that I had several SHEETS of it sitting at home. Everyone seems to have a bad attitude there. D: But it's either go there or Micheal's or JoAnn's...

You know, I might actually start ordering more supplies through the mail. Not only are the prices better, but you don't have to deal with traffic and employees who think they're god's gift to art supplies D:
