Oh no, I'm so sorry.... It sounds like he was much older than you expected, poor thing. You enriched his life so much more, adding love and care that I know he reciprocated. He loved you, and you made an impact on his life. Saying goodbye really hurts, my condolences... *hugs* I've greatly enjoyed keeping up with Stolen Cat's adventures that you have posted since you met him. Rest in peace little guy.
Poor old man. He was a good kitty and did all the appropriate kitty things like give cuddles, purrs and a buddy to talk to during the day. I'm so sorry you had to be woken up with such sad news, it's never easy to hear about the passing of a loved one. I hope there's some solace in the fact you got to find out more about his human and cat family, as well as more about him. I know there were always some questions about him, so at least you know now. He was really old for an outdoor cat! But most importantly, he had a great life with you in it. It's all any of us can ask for to find that special person to bond with, and he found that in you. <3
Thank you. I also found out for certain that he was born WITHOUT a tail, and it wasn't an accident or anything that he had a nub. His mother is also a nubby-tail, and his sister is, too. So that makes me feel better that there wasn't a serial tail-cutter in the neighborhood or something.
