I think the inevitable gallon of liqueur per cake is the most to blame. It mystifies me how those foolish confectioners can think that Tiramisu should taste not like Tiramisu, but instead like Tesco Value Brandy.

Coincedentally, Tesco Value Brandy also manages to taste like kerosene, so it's a vicious circle. Or viscous, at any rate.
