Okay, so a few people wanted some in-progress pictures from me making maple cookies a few nights ago. So, now that I've finished all of the editing and stuff, here they are! Click on each picture to view at full-size.
1. The full pic of ingredients. 1 cup maple syrup, 1 cup packed brown sugar, 1 tsp vanilla, 1/2 tsp salt, one egg, 1/3 cup sugar, 1 cup (2 sticks) softened butter, 4 cups flour (not measured yet,) 2 tsp baking soda (not measured yet.) Oven at 350ºF.
2. closeups of the measured ingredients and stuff.
3. Just the brown sugar and butter, blended together.
4. Added the egg, vanilla and maple syrup.
5. After blending the above ingredients - mixture took on a roughly pudding-like texture.
6. Salt, baking soda and flour - I just put the salt/baking soda in the mix rather than mixing it into the flour and sifting all of it.
7. This is actually the second sifting of the flour, not that it matters much. I do it in batches to keep down flour powder, obviously. XD
8. The finished mix, plus the bowl of sugar. I use a cookie scoop to get roughly uniform balls. First one rolled in sugar there. ♥
9. Better closeup of the batter itself. It smells fantastic at this stage. 8D
10. First round of sugar-coated cookie balls on the pan! /o/
11. And into the oven for 10 minutes!
12. During the cooking process, I set up a bunch of upside-down paper plate holders - GHETTO COOLING RACKS, YO!
13. 10 minutes in the oven and the cookies have puffed into delicious, soft, sponginess.
14. Out they come and onto a cooling rack~!
15. And finally, the moist, spongy deliciousness INSIDE the cookie. \o\ YAAAY!
They actually have a pretty mild maple flavour, more of an aftertaste, unless you have too many of them at once... XD;
