I am, woot! I'm not the only beta for this fic, just a second pair of eyes, so there isn't THAT much pressure on me, which is good. Sounds good in starting out! I really do want to do more betaing, but I'm just worried that I'd end up with a crappy crapfest of a fic and I'd end up telling the author that their fic is unsalvageable or that they'd need to rewrite a million things to suit my taste; either that, or I'd think it's a lost cause and just point out a couple of grammar things, and would end up with my name attached to a shitty fic. And, since I'm technically ESL although my SPAG is pretty good, I might still miss something crucial. Oh well :P dramatic beta is dramatic. Hopefully this one will be neither.
And I'm sure you can beta too! Maybe try to find a similar situation as mine, to start out with?
oh, no way I'd do this with my own hotel room. I'd rather stay at a hostel and pay $30 a night, but then I'd miss out on stuff... I think. I hate missing out on things. I think I'm actually manging to do this very cost-effectively.
yes! I'm excited about betaing. You should totally try it. But yeah, that's another thing - how critically one should read :P to try to enjoy or just to find things to fix? A balance to find, I'm sure!

and I WOULD tell you to do that, except it's a lot of money and I don't want to pressure anyone into anything. BUT if it happened to work out (like, you win the lottery or something, or see über cheap flights) you should TOTALLY do it. :D :D :D
OMG Inception is brilliant. Seriously brilliant. SO many things well done about it. I won't say it's the best movie ever because I need to digest the plot more, but my friends and I went for drinks afterwards and over an hour later we were STILL discussing it and trying to figure it out. Definitely makes you think! Hooked me from the beginning. I recommend it, like, a lot. Such a cool concept!
I'm kind-of-sort-of tempted to go, eek. I was actually looking up prices in my office, earlier today. ^^;;; I saw a couple of package deal tickets on ebay, but I'm not sure how trustworthy the sellers are. Where did you get your ticket, if you don't mind me asking? Someone on my flist is selling a silver ticket, but ~$500 (after converting to CND) is a bit steep. D: I also don't have anyone to share a hotel room with and argh, this will be tricky to plan, why am I even considering it. /o\

$500 is a lot D: MUCH more than I paid. I already have roommates booked in for a hotel otherwise I'd totally share, but you can always check out the comm, people have been looking for roommates! And there's always hostels in downtown Vancouver where you could go to crash, and just hang out at the hotel the rest of the time. But yeah, it's a lot of money, and really just depends on your financial situation, which I can't speak for. What I CAN say is that it's going to be awesome.

and hehe, yep, although my singing skills decline proportionally according to my liquor level, although my perception of my skills may also travel ... probably in the direction of the liquor level, but exponentially, probably.

Yeah those are my feelings exactly! Another fear of mine is to forget to beta, you know, get lost in the story... It would be typical of me.
Your situation is the best to start betaing and if I ever get courage enough to try it I'll start like that as well :D
