Yes they do know how old she was/is. They just disapprove as she is not Jewish, so everything else by default will be wrong.

Oh crinnnnnge...what a story, I'm so glad that I've never been in that situation. Looks like you and Ittai (is he English or do his family just live here?) will have to start breeding like rabbits now, teach the old cow a lesson (i.e one has to move with the times at least a bit, and accept other people for who they are). If she wasn't so stubborn and stuck up (which I've always found very devout religious types to be) she'd see you for the lovable little thing you are and not get struck down by 'god' for it! And as for the 'whats this you've brought into my house' trash, maybe you could try saying to Ittai in front of her "I can't believe YOU came out of THAT" !

*lol* Yeah, he's British (well, his mum was born in Iraq, lived in Israel for ages, then moved here and married an English guy, but Ittai has lived here all his life)... I mean, I do understand why they're upset, they take religion seriously, and you're not allowed to marry out if you're Jewish. I just wish they'd stop thinking that Ittai cares much about religion, 'cause he doesn't anymore...
