It sounds to me like Ol'Rog might have a touch of the old foot-in-mouth disease too. I personally appreciate your honesty, and I'm always really conscious that you try to be thoughtful and caring towards your friends, and that you try to be empathetic (to people you know or strangers), even if it's not your first response. But not being a pushover is not a fault!

Dad does not mince words. Neither does mom. I was doomed from the start!

I try! My family is not emotionally touchy feely so it's not natural for me to reach out or say the best thing. I keep trying, and trying to figure out a way to be honest and kind.

Thanks for linking to that piece, I agree with you completely. The part about the applications to Pizza Hut and the baby seat made me so sad.
