Lately I appear to be attracted to things designed to be frustratingly difficult to the point of brain breaking. I guess this is a form of masochism?

The first is an old old game called NetHack. First created over 20 years ago (yes, that's a "screenshot" at that link) it now, fortunately, comes with some graphical upgrades. It is still by far ( Read more... )

The CiSRA puzzles are indeed delightful. Some of the ToothyWiki CisraStylePuzzles have come out pretty well too - check out qqzm's E.1 Rainbow, ChrisHowlett's CH.4 Critical Juncture, or my AC.7 Inspection for some that are fairly approachable. Do note that in most cases, the CiSRA puzzles and thus the ToothyWiki CisraStylePuzzles are designed to be solved by teams: any one person would be expected to have quite some difficulty! (The ones I've named above might be more amenable to single-person-solving than some.)

We discuss the CisraStylePuzzles (amongst other things) on the ToothyChat channel that bears your name, if you're ever around during the afternoon UK time :)

Oh, so that's what the #Kazu as the solver referred to. That was somewhat puzzling me.

Of course, I'm still puzzled about what there's a chat channel called Kazu but at least that's a different puzzle.

Unfortunately, your 5pm is my 9am so you guys are probably all leaving work just as I'm getting there.

Ah, of course, you're on that coast. That's a pity. We're often around till 6 or 6:30, but our overlap would be fairly limited.

I think the kazuchannel was originally created by toothycat to let you test your chat client? And then when it wasn't being used for that any more, ChrisHowlett and me took it over for discussion of MagicTheGathering, and it's kinda expanded to be a general geeky recreation channel :)
