Jin wondered if there was something intrinsic in beach vistas that made everyone appear so beautiful. Or was it just Kame-chan, his best friend, who benefitted from the coastline’s charms? Maybe it was because Kame was so like the ocean that it enhanced his untamable angular features.
Jin’s eyes traced the younger boy’s silhouette as Kazuya danced effortlessly in the shallow water, wind tossing his shaggy dark locks. Akanishi had always been drawn to the quiet power of the sea, beckoned by its unbroken evening furies and calm mornings. And Kame’s eyes spoke of this ocean to Jin, wild and breathtaking and deep, framed by lacy-long eyelashes. The smooth curves of his body moving so fluidly, the hint of shoulder revealed as his torn plaid shirt hung off his thin form, the salty damp smell of his hair after he’d given in to the sea’s inviting embrace so early that morning; Akanishi knew that they shouldn’t have induced such longing. But neither was he surprised at his yearning for the boy’s supple body and shining smile. After all, who could not be entranced by Kamenashi Kazuya?
Jin’s mind flashed back to the previous night, on the same beach, after the rest of KAT-TUN had long since sunk into slumber. He and Kazuya were sitting side-by-side, talking, laughing, friendly. He had kissed Kame many times before. But, the drunken sloppy liplocks in club bathrooms and desperate vodka soaked jerk off sessions they had shared must have been easily forgotten by his best friend. Except… Akanishi had a flash of Kamenashi’s eyes the last time, big, bright and lucid, and wasn’t all too sure anymore whether Kame had been intoxicated at all. Pressing his lips into Kazuya’s was too natural for Jin, Yamapi had told him after walking in on them in Akanishi’s room. Maybe he needed more girls. But women didn’t taste as addictive as the salty, savory flavor of Kame’s perfect pink lips. Looking into their heavily made-up eyes didn’t plunge Jin into the wild, open boundless sky. As Kazuya fluttered his eyelashes and brushed a few dripping strands of hair from his porcelain-skinned face, Jin leaned in to kiss him, soberly, for once, for real.
Being with Kamenashi chased every last rational thought from Jin’s brain. As he pushed the younger boy into the sand under the starlight sky, nothing mattered except the soft little moans escaping Kazuya’s lips, a delicious duet with the lapping waves of the sea. Jin’s rough hands tore off his own shirt and ripped through Kame’s blue and orange plaid as he ran his fingers through his friend’s long wavy hair. As if unleashed by the crisp beachy air and rolling tides, Akanishi’s body suddenly knew how to handle the wild beauty that had danced his way into all of Jin’s daydreams. Their bodies melted together, Kazuya crying out a no that he didn’t mean as Jin hit a spot that made him murmur his best friend’s name, quietly at first, then with great abandon. When Akanishi finally collapsed on top of the smaller boy, Kame, calm and sweet as the glassy water in front of them, fixed his dark eyes on Jin: “I love you.” It was soft and gentle, and before Jin could unmuddle himself and respond, Kazuya was walking down the beach, trailing his delicate toes in the water, shaking the sand out of his hair.
Akanishi had drunk too much after getting in from the beach and was glad the stylish sunglasses hid the dark circles under his eyes. The lenses also let him follow Kame’s every move, tracing the boy’s limber body as he frolicked along the beach, kissing the cameras with hair artfully tousled yet eyes defiant and deep under the thick fringe of lashes. Yes, just as Jin followed the unpredictable cycle of the ocean, trailing away to new sites in western lands and being swept back to the stable Japanese shore, the one thing he could never leave was the ocean itself, that gorgeous, mysterious force, his beautiful inimitable Kazu-chan.
