Yikes Meta! Fringe 2x20 Brown Betty

May 02, 2010 20:51

I quite enjoyed this episode. In an attempt to explain what I liked about it so much I did a character meta.

If you read it through, I'd love to have some meta/discussion *is hopeful*. Be careful though, it's a long one.

This is Walter's brain. This is Walter's brain on drugs. )

I didn't notice much at first, just little bits and pieces. Then later I just kept remembering more so I went back and watched it. And once I was looking for it, so much jumped out at me.

Truthfully, this could have been longer. I still have some notes I made on the episode that either weren't particularly relevant to the characters, or I thought had been said in a better way elsewhere.

I loved reading your interpretation to the latest episode. I'm very new to fringe and so I don't exactly have the greatest grasp of the characters yet, so I was grateful to read your interpretation. (I'm excited to get to know this show better!) There have been a lot of harsh responses to this episode, but as for myself...well I loved it.

Anyway, really insightful view of this episode! Thanks for sharing!

To be honest, I'm pretty new to Fringe myself, having only recently bought season one and falling in love from there.

In many way this was a great epsiode for characters, even if it's just one character's interpretation of them. Which is why I loved it so much. The plot is a bit 'take it or leave it' for me, but with characterisation going on I didn't need much more.

Thank you so much for writing this! You've explained so well why I loved this episode. It seems like a silly story at first, but then you look deeper into it and it is just wonderful.

On the surface it is just a silly story, but there is so much there just underneath.

You make an obvious yet important point with this, this is how Walter sees the characters and what he believes they feel about him and each other. It's sometimes hard to keep than in mind when watching the episode but your analysis lays it out really well ( ... )

It's sometimes hard to keep than in mind when watching the episodeI do think parts of the story itself are distracting from the characters, which at times makes it difficult to focus on the really important parts - particulary if you want to just watch the episode. but if you're up for it, there's a lot to sink your teeth into ( ... )

I wasn't really someone who loved this episode but you have given me much to think about.

One comment -- Also the guy with the time machine who sent Walter the White Tulip card also tried to tell Walter that Peter would forgive him.

I had forgotten about the guy in White Tulip! Good point. Now Walter just has to start to believe them.
