Lots of good answers but my favourite is the last one. I feel exactly the same way. I really am eternally grateful to those still here on LJ... all of you are getting me through a very rough time.
I cherish all the friendships I have made over the years. The saddest thing about Lj for me is when people have just disappeared. I grieve for the lost friendships and worry about what happened...
I started mine in March of 2005. I was on a message board and a lot of the forum members had LiveJournal links in their profiles. I was like, "Wow, what is that??" So I checked it out and signed up. I had already a blog with AOL Blogs and I thought blogs were cool so I kept it going from about 2005-2008 when I noticed it was dying out. After that I just posted sporadically. I made two really good friendships while on here. Went on dates with a couple of girls who were local and had an online thing going for a long time with a young lady from the UK who shared my love of classical music. It ended up not working because her childhood sweetheart came back into the picture and that was a wrap. ha.

Books are such an escape into different worlds and circumstances. I love that you can escape and learn through them too.

Online friends are just as important as RL friends. The weird thing is when you know a lot about someone, but you've never actually met .... LOL!

LJ has been amazing to meet new friends and often we can share more with those "yet to meet" friends than those we see semi regularly.
LOL @ growing old disgracefully.
I liked/like anything to do with my imagination and creating stories, also.
I would love a purring cat on my lap although don't have any cats of my own.

My cats never fail to cheer me up :)
The only regret I have about Lj friends is when they disappear. I worry about what has happened and if they are OK.
