Don't suppose you'd be willing to picket the CBC for me?

AHA! He now has a YouTube channel on his website and that works. Haven't checked if it has most of the videos from the show but at least I can see what's there.!

It has 256mb which should be fine yes? It sounds like I'd have a better chance of unloading it if I strip everything off.

Final stupid question...after I delete all my docs and personal info do I have to uninstall every program before I format the harddrive? (I assume there is a menu item somewhere that says "Format Harddrive"?

ha. Having partitions would imply that I actually knew something about owning a computer!

Thanks for the help. :-)

A 5 year old machine should not be too bad. Might need more RAM, but it should be able to be upgraded to a gig or so which would be fine for XP.

You could always put Umbuntu or another Linux flavor on it.

I gave my computer with ME to my parents, but then it moved at about the same speed they do, so they didn't see anything wrong with it.

It then sat in a box in the corner of my office for a year before I threw it out. I find I'm a lot less guilty about throwing things out if I leave them hanging around for a while. Then I just feel good about clearing out the clutter.

This is what I'm facing now. Hubby very efficiently piled all our junk to be given away (computer, kids clothes, books and toys, even a carpet)in the front room while I was away this summer but of course left it to me to dispose of. I'm not ready to throw the computer away just yet...though I will have to assemble it again to wipe it clean...I'll try Freecycle or something
