“Hey find me someone my age and not two feet in the ground or in the playground sand and I’ll dance with him.”

That mischievous grim returned.“Oh really.”

Once again Erik spun her around and she came face to face with none other than Nathanial Archibald.

“Oh Nate thank God you are here. You have so saved me and my poor feet!” Turning back to Jenny, Erik hastily pushes her into Nate and makes a quick escape. “She is all yours! Good luck!”

“Hey! I’m not that bad!” Jenny exclaims after him but is pulled back. She looks down and Nate has a firm grasp of her hand.

“Let me be the judge of that.” Nate suggests raising her tiny hand to his lips.

Wonderful familiar sensations swirl around her head. Unable to breathe Jenny nods her head and allows him to lead her onto the dance floor. Thankful that Nate is holding her close because without his strong embrace she would surely be putty on the floor. Regaining her composure Jenny reluctantly looks up at him with a smile.

“You look beautiful tonight.”

“Thank you. It’s an original one of a kind, you know.” Jenny exclaims with a gleam in her eyes, feeling her self assurance returning.

Nate takes both of her hands and steps back to examine the dress. “Stunning! That has to be a J. Humphrey design.”

Jenny can’t help but give him one of her 1000 watt smiles with an angelic blush.

He pulls her back into his embrace and whispers “You know I was instrumental in her first fashion show.”

Jenny misses a step trying to hold in her mirth “Oh really? Now that’s a story I have to hear.”

Nate looks off with a smile plastered on his face before he begins. “Well J. Humphrey actually stands for Jenny Humphrey. She’s this little wisp of a girl…lady.” He corrects. “Much like you.”

Jenny opens her moth of object but he pulls her closer and continues. “She is tall with these amazing legs that go on for days.” He leans in closer “with cotton blonde hair” He fingers a stray ringlet at the base of her neck and brings it in to inhale its sweet fragrance. “that always smells of honey and vanilla.”

Completely swept away in the moment Jenny doesn’t realize that they had stopped dancing and were still standing the middle of the dance floor until her steps once again falters.  Trying to lighten the tension in the moment Jenny quickly exclaims “You know, you never finished your story.”

Breaking out his lust induced haze, Nate looks around and notices too that they had stopped. Elegantly, he whisks her back into motion while scanning their audience.

A look of confusion washes over his face in response to the glare given by his best friend, Chuck Bass. Not wanting to deal with his drama at this moment Nate continues his dance.

Getting back into the rhythm of the song Jenny looks up at Nate expectantly “So how exactly were you instrumental in her show?”

Feeling the comfortable feeling from her he places his finger on her pert nose and smiles a smug smile with a self assured shrug. “It’s simple. I drove the bus!”

Not expecting that answer Jenny couldn’t help but burst out laughing. At the same time the song ends and Nate escorts her to the edge of the dance floor. He takes both her hands and looks directly into her eyes. Revealing his regrets and hopes. “I miss this…I miss you.” And gently places a soft kiss on her lips.

Frozen at the sensation, moments pass before she realizes that Nate is nowhere in sight.

Panic races through Jenny’s veins as she tries to find him. She stops short and hides in an alcove when she hears a somewhat heated argument between Nate and Chuck at the entrance.

“Nate I mean it leave her alone!”

“Why? Why should I?”

Chuck grabs a hold of Nate’s jacket and gets into his face. “Friend, I am warning you if you hurt her I will kill you.”

Chuck lets go and smoothes the wrinkles in Nate’s jacket and simply walks away.

Not comprehending what exactly just happened they stare at Chuck’s retreating form.
