I live in the Greater Houston Area, and drive into the city about once a week. Grew up in Colorado, however, where ideas are much more liberal. Wish I could move away from here because of the tremendous closed-mindedness I encounter here. Economy isn't helping, however :)
How are you? Sorry I've been away from LJ for while. Trying to find myself this year, and not on the Internet --lol--
That's odd to hear that Colorado is more liberal, as I had generally heard it was more conservative (well, not than Houston or Texas, but on the conservative end of the spectrum, though health conscious). But yeah, close mindedness galore. Still a slight improvement from Bryan/College station where I grew up. I live on the northwest outskirts in Copperfield. I don't actually go into the city proper very often, though I venture out to the 1960/Memorial area a few times a month.
Economy is sucking for me, presently underemployed, but starting to make a bit of headway and gain some focus on some projects I'm working on that might have long term usefulness. I should go check out your book _Reins of Time_ (I assume it is on shelves now?).
Actually, I haven't been back to Colorado in like, forever :) so I'm not sure what's up with them politically lately.
As for the economy, I tried changing jobs back in the summer but it was a no-go. Still stuck in a low pay, no identity cupboard here and not liking it.
REINS OF TIME-- the contract I signed was for e-copy until 75 copies were sold, then they "consider" whether to turn it into hardcopy or not. Problem is, the publisher doesn't work with Amazon.com, so my sales are the pits. Ergo, no hardcopy in bookstores --grrrrr!
I'd love to talk more. Email addy is kcheath@gmail.com

Also, you've probably mentioned it before, but I forgot/wasn't aware that you lived in Houston (I do also).

We should perhaps try to hang out sometime.
