What the fuck is a glo phone?

Since my earlier attempt at updating was thwarted by my own stupidity I will once again update!

For information on how my holidays have been going please refer to this link.

Well another Christmas has come and gone, and I must say I'm quite pleased with the way it all turned out this year. There is naturally a lot to talk about, so I'll go chronologically.

*~*CHRISTMAS EVE*~*

Christmas Eve this year was probably more stressful than it's ever been. Every year before this year I have woken up Christmas Eve morning to find the house completely cleaned and festively decorated. Not so this time. Part of the morning was spent helping to clean the last few things that needed to be done as well as some wrapping (as mentioned in my previous entry), and then it was time to get ready. I wore the red and black skirt I intended to wear last year and it fit quite comfortably along with a black sweater from Old Navy. I also managed to get my contacts in, put some makeup on, and do something with my hair, meaning that I actually got dressed up this year. That was exciting, in a way.

( In the beautifying process )

But yes, Marcelo and I headed to church at 5:30 and I was relieved to see that there were others there as well. Who showed? Angela, Jackie, Lizzy and Laura. Strange that there would be no sign of Jeremy OR Alex. Hmmm.... Well, Alex was out of town so that was alright. Mass was a distaster. It was terrible. The traiditon is that a few Christmas carols are sung about 10 minutes before the mass begins. Janet announced that the first carol would be Hark the Harold Angels Sing, but the random incompetent pianist (or should I say KEYBOARDIST) bitch started playing Angels We Have Heard on High, confusing the hell out of everyone. None of us sang it. The next few went slightly better, though the processional hymn was TERRIBLE, and this is what pissed me off about it.

You would think that the keyboardist would have slowed down to match our tempo, considering that there were about 8 of us and one of her. But no, no, of course not. The bitch just kept speeding along, completely uncaring of what was going on around her. Even Father Mike was singing along with us at our pace, and if she didn't respect us as singers, she should have respected Father Mike and the pace at which HE was going. But no. No. She's an idiot.

The rest of the mass proceeded in much the same way, though it did get progressively better, granted not by much. After the mass Marcelo, Angela and I felt the need to apologize to people for our miserable performance. We also felt the need to make fun of Kathy for making us spontaneously leave the microphone in the middle of singing Silent Night in order to take communion. Excuse me, but it's the minister's JOB to STAND THERE AND WAIT FOR US TO FINISH THE DAMN SONG!!! "COME ON!!! COME ON!!!!" LoL, ah, it's a good thing we have a sense of humor....

We gave Angela a ride home from church and when we got to my house it was nice to see that some people were already there. Scott and Debbie, Uncle Billy, and Marcelo's parents were already there. Having his parents here was a little weird because neither of us really knew what to say to them. They didn't know anyone, and though they were introduced, they still didn't have much conversation. But it was fine. We got some gifts from them which were actually not too bad. I got a t-shirt from Argentina, some of what me and Marcelo have dubbed ( sock moccassins ), and some jewelry. Others that showed up were Marilyn, her husband Jim (the one who had a stroke thus putting us into the situation with Kitty) and Maggie. Steve also showed up at 8:00 as scheduled. It was a little strange with him being here, considering that he and I haven't really talked since the beginning of Junior year. He mostly talked to Marcelo about wrestling and other things that confused me, which was fine.

Around 9:30 Jennifer, Angela and Monique showed up, which made me very happy. I wasn't sure whether or not Monique would be able to make it due to her work schedule and such, but she did. Angela and I drank eggnog and ate shrimp as we have every year since I can remember, and since the basement is nice and cleaned out we were able to resume our yearly ritual of hanging out there. We brought down my tape recorder with the tape of FAGS100 (a radio show Monique and I had when we were 12) and got a kick out of it. We also listened to tapes of us singing Spice Girls and Moffatt songs, as we always did when we were younger. It was a really good time. Angela had to leave around 11:15 because she was playing flute at Midnight Mass (even though she sang at 6:00 - What a trooper!... Or an idiot... :oP), and Jennifer went home as well, so Monique, Marcelo and I sat in the living room and watched the tape I found of the Annie play. ::Sigh:: Memories... In all objective honesty, considering that about 90% of the cast were ages 13 and younger, it was a fantastic show. It was better than some highschool productions I've seen. We did a damn good job.

After the tape finished Monique left and Marcelo and I went to sleep, waiting for Santa to come and bring wonderful presents for everyone:oP But before I go on explaining that joyous morning, I'll put up the rest of the Christmas Eve pictures!
( My favorite day of the year )

*~*CHRISTMAS*~*

Well the tradition of opening gifts on Christmas morning morphed this year into opening gifts on Christmas afternoon. Marcelo and I didn't get up until about 11:15, and by the time Caitlyn woke up and things got started it was after Noon. But it didn't matter, because the tree was quite the sight!
( OoOo.. )

Marcelo opened his "Santa gifts" first and was quite pleased with them, especially UT2004. Caitlyn and I did the same, and I made out with some very nice things including '90s Trivial Pursuit as well as a brand new printer/copier/scanner. That makes me happy. After that we all opened gifts from each other, which were also nice. Marcelo loved his claddagh which is currently being resized as well as his clothes from penny-arcade and elsewhere. He was also excited about his soon-to-arrive Bally's membership, as am I, because we can finally go to the gym together. Caitlyn got me a really pretty blown glass rose. I'm not taking it out of the box until we move downstairs, because I'm not risking it breaking. And what did Marcelo get me?

He got us reservations at the Holiday Inn hotel, one block from the Sears Tower, for not one night, but TWO!! I'M SO EXCITED!!! All I wanted was to be able to spend time with him to just talk and play games and such, and I couldn't have imagined a better way to do it!! This gift was amazing!! We're going next weekend from the 7th to the 9th, and in that time we'll walk around downtown, window shop a bit, eat at a nice restaurant, order some pizza, play some games, watch some movies, and above all - Eat Cheetos and Jewel brand sandwich cookies. Oh yes. I love him. My gift totally owns yours!! :oP

But yes, after the festivities finished at home everyone got dressed and headed to Auntie's house. I was much relieved to have gotten a cute sweater to wear, as I hadn't planned out an outfit before that. ( Awww..... )
On the way out the door I was pleasantly surprised to see that it had been snowing!! There was no snow for Christmas Eve but I didn't have a green Christmas!! That made me quite happy, and naturally I took pictures.

( Let it snow! )

At Auntie's the appetizer was ravioli, which I haven't had in God knows how long, so that was excellent. The main course - Ham with mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, broccoli and apple sauce. Very, very good, as always. We opened gifts after we ate, during which time Marcelo's gift and my mom's gift got mixed up, so when Marcelo opened his box he found a fuzzy purple robe. And he was being so nice about it :o) I also got a purple robe, darker than my mom's. I've never had a robe before, so it was a good thing to get.

As we were finishing opening up gifts, Uncle Joe's kids and their kids all decided to drop by, which was fabulous! All of my little cousins have gotten SO big since I last saw them! Joey is 9 now, Anthony is 6!!, and Santino is 4. And they are SO ADORABLE!!

( Behold the family!! )

After eating some pie and after the family left we decided we should leave too. And so we did.

And considering that this entry is getting quite long, I'll basically say that the day after Christmas went well also. Went to my grandma's house and did the whole gift thing - I got lots and lots of socks (SO MANY SOCKS!!!!!) and lots and lots of money, which was good. The food was also excellent, as it always is. We didn't take home any leftovers though, and that makes me sad. I could really go for some of that broccoli cheese stuff... *Drools*

God am I hungry. But I'm waiting for Marcelo to get home from work so we can go out for dinner (AGAIN) because my mom isn't supposed to be home this evening. So I will go and bide my time elsewhere! LaTeR!

That was an excerpt from Lauren's journal which details the past few days. I TRIED to do that myself but I was a moron, so whatever.
