I wonder how reliable their research data is (and their interpretation)?

The one problem I find with many research studies is that it's just a matter of time until the next one comes out with data refuting the previous study. It all gets very confusing.

I wonder why we need to know?

Interesting. It's a nifty hypothesis, but it seems like it would be difficult to prove. And, as it said, there are many possible/probable factors in sexual orientation.
