I'm a big fan of the historical documentaries. :) I haven't taught Western Civ II in five years, so I desperately miss Catherine and Peter. They were mighty fun, Peter with his freakish height (terrible for his faux-stealthy trip to the West) and Catherine with the Potemkin village thing... Good times. Well, except for the peasants.
Part of the Peter the Great documentary was an A&E Biography program on him. The narrator kept pronouncing Peter's first wife's name "Yoo-DOX-ee-ah" which made me laugh (and snort) derisively. It's pronounced "Ev-doe-KEE-ya!"
I find it interesting that Peter was so tall, especially in that era. Apparently he had a mild form of epilepsy, too - but such energy! Fascinating man. Ruthless and scary as hell, but fascinating.
