Koraline watched as Connor paced back and forth across the room stuffing items of clothing into his luggage bag as she sat up in bed with her chin on her knees, glasses on, hair slightly messy, and only the sheets on the bed covering her body.
He was going on to a conference for a week, but really she knew what that meant, she had for some time now. He went to conferences sometimes and other times he didn’t. He treated her more like an item than his girlfriend or even his best friend.
When he was done packing he made his way over to her, leaning down kiss her lips he kissed him back before he pulled away. “I’ll be back in a week.” He stated.
“I know.”
“I love you,” in any other circumstance Koraline would have scoffed, but the funny thing was: he meant it. Just not in the way that she did.
“I love you too.” Picking up his bags he exited the house and once she heard the car leave she started packing her own. She couldn’t do it anymore.
Knowing Kora just as well as he knew himself, he didn’t expect her to be home when he returned.
