so last night i stayed up later than i should have because i was engrossed in the indespensible calvin and hobbes.  i was trying to figure out why calvin and hobbes is so good and i think i figured out a few reasons why i identify with the both of them.  i ended up reading the whole book.

1.  maximizing fun.
2.  minimizing school. (yet learning

a bunch of the new writers in my program here are fixin to go to Nashville to see Sufjan Stevens. should be pretty sweet.

it's actually closer to (but not quite because the rhyme scheme here is aabb instead of abab) a Shakespearean sonnet. i agree, it is great.

i think it will be a good semester too.

that would be sweet, especially in nashville. he is going to be in dc at the end of september, but it is on a tuesday, and my school is kinda frowny on not being around, so ill probably miss it.

i was kindof wondering what this one was:
(it mostly reminds me of "a boy named sue" story song style, but i diddnt know if it had a name or not. plus i think it is a cool ending to the poem.)

Now I'm in bed,
The sheets pulled to my head.
My tiger is here making Zs.
He's furry and hot.
He takes up a lot
Of the bed and he's hogging the breeze.

if that is only part of a poem, it may have a different name, but as a six-line stanza on its own, the rhyme scheme "aabccb" is called a spanish sextilla. it's a pretty nice rhyme scheme in my opinion.

no, i'm in grad school in UF, so yes, the drive to Nashville would be pretty intense. But it would also serve as more of a bonding experience/road trip with some of the other poets, being as one of the guys is from there and wants to show everyone around. The show is an added bonus. especially considering he's playing Athens, GA which is way closer.

i hope he does Florida as his next album. i'd be interested to hear it.
