That is kind of odd. I do know that, technically, for "dangerous" dog types (like pit bulls, dobermans, part wolves, and rottweilers)you are required, by law, to get them insured in many states, but I didn't know that at all about buying a house! How odd!

That makes the most sense to me. Would make the dog owner responsible for covering any damages/lawsuits that resulted from their dog's misbehavior instead of pawning such costs onto their property insurance.
