Ahh, see, I didn't know the other hamster passed on.

I didn't log that? I thought I had, but perhaps I didn't. Mind like a steel sieve, I have.

Just checked. No, I guess I didn't. It hurt so much for the second one to die, too. He worked so hard to earn those hamsters, and to have them die so soon just added to the agony of their deaths. We buried the second with the first. I've told Matthew that, when he's ready, we'd get him a new hamster, gerbil, or mouse, but that's only if he comes to the decision that he wants one. For now, he'd rather not. He feels like it's his fault, but it isn't. Hazel was found dead in her cage. No indication whatsoever of what did it. She was only about 7 months old. I told him it could have been any thing -- failure of any of the organs, diabetic coma, anything. It wasn't him.

I don't think he accepts that yet.

I am sorry to hear that your son's second hampster also died. I can imagine how upsetting this was for him.
