Scion Update
Hm... looks like I forgot to finish up my post last time. Well, last week was hell, so hopefully I'm forgiven. I'll put them together.
Another trip into Crom Cruoch is inevitable. Ugh.
Just read where I left off last time... I was a poet.
So, here we go, moving forward until we reach a 20' drop into a pit of centipedes. Ew! There were the really big ones, the medium sized ones and then small ones that were flying. *shudder* I could see the entrance from the other two caves, but down in the pit, there was another LARGE opening that was covered in slime. I pointed it out and asked Helena and Jacob what they thought. Yep, it was just as I suspected: another entrance to Crom Crouch. I do NOT like that place.
After a debate on what we should do, we decided that we'd just ward the place so they couldn't get out and Sam and I dropped a few khaibit traps around. That should slow them up. We headed back to the hotel to get the kids and take them home, but it was late, so we decided to wait until morning. I spent my time with Sam, and we called the twins, since there's a four hour difference and they would be up early annoying Juliet. Made me miss them, though, but I was glad they were there and not here.
We took the Menehune children home and were thanked by the tribe with a huge feast. That was a lot of fun. See, they were supposed to keep the centipedes from coming through the portal, but Hiwalani was eating them, so they left. That's what caused the problem. They told us how to perform the ritual to go in and close the portal. Yeah, we've gotta go back in there. :(
Heading back to the caves, we went to ask Hiwalani to stop eating the Menehune. She wasn't happy, but she agreed, because Erika is just so good at getting people to agree with her. Maybe she can get the Menehune to do sacrifices to her or something. I mean, she said they're tasty and all. Can't blame someone for wanting something tasty.
I wish I could work with Erika more often. She's so... not male. I know Helena's there, but she's just so... icy. I love her to death, but... she can relax once in a while, you know? Erika doesn't have the problems I do in our group. She doesn't have the history I do with them, which is bad because they don't seem to forget anything. And they don't forgive either.
But anyway, we headed in and found that our traps had a few dead centipedes in them. The area where they opening is now only had four of the really big ones and a bunch of little flying ones. Ew. So, Cesar fried a bunch and we dove over the edge, taking out the big ones in no time. Now we had to pass into Crom Cruach. Ick. Well, Cesar, Sam, Storm and I had covered ourselves in this mud that's supposed to help us avoid any problems the gunk would cause. It worked wonderfully.
Once inside (and cleaned off), Jacob traced the big centipede thing that had eyes. These eyes are supposed to be burned at the entrance and that will close it. He tracked it down a hall to a place with lots of choices of where to go. Jacob said go down, which we did, all in our own way. Best part? Erika sprouted bat wings. OMG, yes, I got a picture. I am thinking Cesar and Jacob want copies... full sized.
There were two ways to go, one with a humming sound and the other with odd noises. Jacob said the thing was towards the odd noises. Hm, still wondering about the humming. Anyway, we get to this big room with five of the big centipedes, five of the humanoid shaped things made of lots of centipedes, then our... "oculapede" sitting in the middle of a "lake" of ick. The multi-pedes look a bit tough, so I start to lower their defense, but after Cesar blasts a couple to oblivion and they just skin shedded it, I can see he's pissed. I leave them to him and start taking out the big ones. Jacob & Storm have gone after the "oculapede". Sam just stayed to the side, shooting things, and Erika went with Cesar to bleach out the multis. Gotta say that Erika with the bat wings and Cesar with the humming bird wings standing back to back was a 70's album cover to die for. Zepplin or Floyd would have loved it.
Before I really knew it, we were done. I heard some shouting, so I think Storm may have been eaten by the "oculapede". I noticed Erika was now in in her cheerleading outfit, so I joined her and we boosted everyone a bit. Always fun. :) See, I need to be around Erika more often. She loosens me up. But anyway, we now have the eyes so we can go burn them and close the portal.
