Indiana, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Ohio, North Carolina, Florida, and Georgia? That's would be some pretty big swinging even for swing states (and, I'm sure, fraud -- which of course, the neo-cons are capable of) in the last few days of the campaign, and all completely in favor of McCain. I'm worried just the same as you, blackkitty, but believe it or not, information like this makes me less worried, not more.

I was just in Virginia last week, traveling 95 with my dad, working on Obama's campaign, and if that state goes to McCain, I will be the very first person to call shenanigans. For every McCain sign, we saw at least three or four Obama signs. Mark Warner's coat tails in the VA-Sen race are helping the Obama campaign there (last I saw, he was at 65% in those polls).

Like I said, I'm worried, but I am not that worried, yet. Talk to me at 4:30pm on Election Day, and we'll see where I'm at.

there will be shenanigans to burn. I'm not sure whether McLame is still contesting VA or not -- whereas PA he surely is -- but the party may be doing things that the candidate isn't. after all, that's what the national committees are for :P

What scares me about this is that it's pretty much the same map I saw on the news tonight -- turn just a few (three, I think, but could've been four) of those states yellow, and it is the same map. Alas, I do not recall whether this map was an electoral college map or an early-votes map or a general poll map (crowded restaurant, TV far away and turned down).

Now, that's obviously what swing states do -- change colors, that is, not scare me (though they do that too) -- but the fact that McCain could win so simply is pretty darn terrifying.

Also, I enjoy the fact that in this particular election NM and CO are a little blue island in the red sea. We're usually yellow right up until Election Day. I did notice on the news tonight that as far as early votes go, we've got 65k+ for Obama and 37k+ for McCain, which makes me quite proud of my little cereal-box state.

[nods] if your little cereal-box state weren't trending strongly Dem, the Reeps wouldn't be hiring professionals for house-to-house ops. and they're pretty annoyed that a) your Latinos aren't a lock for McLame and b) NM is costing them money that they don't really have.

I must call you on this, Kip -- calling McCain "McLame" is disrespectful, petty, and downright mean. His policies may be totally fucked up, his personal life may be the same, but up until the SC primaries he was at least a guy you could respect, and he is a U.S. Senator. Aside from that, he became lame in a literal sense as a prisoner of war, which is a talking point he uses as distraction far too often but still something for which he shouldn't be mocked. It's no better than calling Obama "Barack Osama," it's something I call out wherever I see it (she says, so you won't take this too personally), and I know you're way smarter and better than resorting to petty insult-slinging. So, be better, please. :P
