Holy shark repellant Batman! Death Hallows Part 2 was awesome, which is kind of surprising given that I didn't care much for Part 1. I haven't been that tense during a movie since ROTS.
The Good
- Helena Botham Carter was hysterical through the entire movie. From acting as Hermione to that weird jumping thing she did before Neville walked up to Voldemort. She's such a good physical actress.
- The dragon in Gringotts. I never thought I'd feel bad for a dragon. Poor thing. :( When it stumbled while flying, I wanted to, well not hug it, but something.
- McGonagall- enough said.
- The Snape Scene and his memories was done so well. Major props to Alan Rickman. When Snape hugged Lily's dead body... I about cried. And Harry was sitting there crying...
- So glad they left in Molly's line, though I wish she'd shouted it.
- Fred and George before the battle, so sad, though George wasn't "hole-y" enough.
- The action sequences were great.
- Ron/Hermione kiss. I admit, I cheered. Been waiting to see that in the movie since...well since I read the books. :p
- Diadem- loved how Ron was like wth is a diadem. The Grey Lady scene was good, as was the entire sequence in the Room of Requirement.
- Tonks/Lupin reaching for each other.
- King's Cross- That scene was done well. The dying piece of Voldemort looked as vile as I imagined it.
- The epilogue looked sooooo much better that time around. The images I saw from the first take of it were just awful.
- Voldemort walking through the dead at Gringotts was such a good scene.
- Voldemort. His facial expressions, everything.
The Bad
- Bellatrix and Voldemort blowing up/disintegrating. It was anticlimactic and lame.A dead body would have drove the point that he was finally gone more effectively.
- The lack the Hallows- the movie is called the Deathly Hallows. Maybe they should be included.
- Fred should have died on camera. His death pushes the whole theme of others sacrificing their lives for Harry. Just seeing him lying dead was BS. It was heartbreaking, but took away from the point of his death. In addition, that scene shows Percy trying to make up for being an idiot.
- Harry didn't have the conversation with Voldemort. Knowing why you are going to lose makes it even worse.
- No mention of the significance of the items Voldemort choose. Yes, they used the "Harry can hear them" bit to locate them, but that seemed too easy.
- Gringotts seemed rushed. There was no discussion of what they were going to beforehand. It was kind of annoying.
- Wish Charlie was there.
- There seemed to be a lot of standing around. Everyone was just kind of hanging around during the Molly/Bellatrix fight. That scene could have been done better.
- The big duel should have taken place in the Great Hall. An audience would have made it more compelling.
- How in the hell did Snape know where Harry was to give him the sword?! No painting to help him. I also didn't care for how the mirror looked. Harry had a broken piece. Really? That's the best they could do?
Overall, it was very good. And yeah, the pinchers icon really doesn't reflect the movie, but it's the only HP icon I have. :p
