I'll play...

cuz I'm bored before my big hair cut. (You'd think I'd never had one before. hee.)

You can ask fannish stuff, my fanon on things, random questions, meta on topics, top fives, whatever. As the kids say on Tumblr, ask is open, so ask away.Oh, although most of my obvious fannishness is directed towards BSG, I have thoughts on many other fandoms... ( Read more... )

Favorite Whedon show and why. Also, any unpopular opinions on anything in any of his shows? (I don't watch SHIELD, so that would be lost on me.)

Firefly is my default favorite Whedon show because I loved it from the first episode I saw and can always, always rewatch. It is in many ways my perfect show, the space Western. *happy sigh* Although my usual half-joking reason is that with only fifteen episodes it didn't have the opportunity to screw up.;)

However, I'm more bitter about the cancellation of Dollhouse because I loved where it was going, and I love the idea of watching a civilization fall.

My unpopular opinions... Many of them center on SHIELD right now, but they can be generalized pretty easily. Also, I don't know how 'unpopular' this opinion is or if it's just something only I think about...

I don't think Whedon is great at casting, in that I think he puts certain visual and connection to character ahead of straight up talent. Other people do it too, but I feel like it's really obvious in Whedon shows because he can also make really great 'diamond in the rough' casting choices.

Also, I don't like Faith. I never did. I liked her better on Angel.

It's interesting what you say about casting. I like his casting choices, generally, but some to linger near the "average" rating instead of the "outstanding" rating. I think of the brilliance of Anya vs. Riley, who was the worst of the worst for me, and I attribute a lot of it to the actors in those roles. Maybe that's unfair, especially to Riley, but could that much blandness and lack of character be a CHOICE?? IDK. LOL. Now I'm going to have to go through every single character and consider if it was an actor problem or a character problem. #rabbithole

Sarah. She's my type with the addition of motherhood.

And I love her relationship with Felix.

In 'Doctor Who' Favorite companion? Have any specifics(stories or characters) you loved or hated about the show?

Rose is probably my favorite. I have liked all of the modern companions for various reason, but I really love Rose and Ten. Well, I'm not feeling Clara much, which kind of answers your second question. She's a bit light and airy for me, especially with Eleven. I'm hoping the new Doctor will change that. In fact, I'm very excited for Twelve and an "older" incarnation.

I agree with everything in this comment. I like Clara a bit more than you, simply because of what she is more than her characterization. She was light and fun and I didn't mind that. I do prefer a darker, more troubled companion/doctor combo and I am hoping it will go that way with Capaldi. I wish he would have a male companion so I could slash them. ;)

In Clara's defense I haven't seen as many of her episodes closely. And it took me forever to warm up to Eleven. What got me through the early Eleven episodes was Amy and Rory and Matt Smith's chemistry with Alex Kingston who I positively adore.

I am really looking forward to her and Capaldi though. Although he is upsetting my whole Doctor Who universe because my usually uninterested in sci-fi husband loves Peter Capaldi and wants to watch but thinks he needs to starts with One. I'm pretty sure he can start with Nine as I did. Although I'm also pretty sure Matt Smith is going to drive him up a wall so maybe he should start with Capaldi and go back when he's acclimated. Anyway I think it's pretty funny and really distracting. hee.

(Also, I need some Ten icons. Cuz I love Ten.)

I wish he would have a male companion so I could slash them.

hee.

Do you have a favorite Dollhouse moment? Or top five?

Topher. Topher can be a moment, right? I love his arc throughout.

And now I want to watch Epitaph I and II.

TOPHER/ADELLE

Is this a squick of yours? I can't remember. When I say that people are all EWWWWWWWWWWWW! ;)

No, Tohper/Adelle doesn't bother me. I can't say it would have ever occurred to me, but mostly because Topher falls into that same place as Leoben where the character somehow prevents me from shipping for reason I can't entirely explain.

If you read a mystery or novel, is it important to you that you get 'answers' at the end of it? How important is closure to you in a narrative?

First off, answers and closure are two different things. Both can be important but which is more important depends upon the writing, the structure of a story. But answers don't necessarily mean satisfying closure. Closure is harder than answers because answers are simple and closure is subtle.

(Does that make sense?)
