You would not believe how much slower USB 1.1 is compared to 2.0! Transferring a couple Megs of pictures from my SD card to the hard drive usually takes <30 seconds on my computer. It's a 10 minute endeavor on this 2000-model Gateway. Also, my external USB (also really slow access) hard drive is formatted as NTFS. Windows ME [shudder] does not

I remember feeling that same amazement over your "amazing" 233 MHz processor Packard Bell. You mention a change of weather, one time some years back I went up to DC. At 6 AM the morning I got there it was 67º. At 5 AM the very next day it was 22º and soon after there was snow. I'd be glad you're experiencing the opposite. BTW, Go Jayhawks!
