In an attempt to better record what I'm reading (I barely remember half of what I read last year) I'm trying to keep track each month.
- The New Yorkers - Cathleen Schine.
A nice, easy read. Not too sappy, yet still endearing.
- The Wednesday Letters - Jason F Wright
Very quick read (one night) but not well written and smacked you over the head with its Christian themes. A promising topic, but not well done.
- The Brief Wondrous life of Oscar Wao - Juniot Diaz
Interesting read. Combines Sci Fi with Latin American heritage. Sometimes hard to make out all the Spanish phrases used, but overall decent.
- No One Belongs Here More Than You - Miranda July
This was a collection of interesting short stories. Some were better than others, but most were okay. Very “Creative Writing Artist” type stories.
- Smart Girls Like Me - diane vadino
Fairly easy read, but not your typical light-hearted chicklit. Very cynical, “smart” writing.
- The Year of Living Biblically - A.J. Jacobs
By the same author who wrote Know-It-All. Very good, interesting to learn a different viewpoint about religion. Helped me with some of my current struggles WRT my faith.
- The Collectors - David Baldacci
Just okay. Promising premise, but very tepid writing. I’ve liked other books of his better.
I was off to a good start in January, but kind of puttered out by the end of the month. I'm currently working on The Diana Chronicles by Tina Brown and need to finish it soon because it's only a 10-day loan from the library and I've already had it more than a week.
