When I read articles like this I usually have conflicting opinions. From an ideological perspective, it makes me furious that libraries are using super-corporate consumer extravaganzas (like Barnes & Nobles) as models for spaces whose intentions couldn't be more opposite from the community gathering and teaching hubs and free self-directed learning centers that libraries intend to be. I think this trend is due in large part to the number of business(wo)men that are taking over the administrative positions in libraries while those of us trained in traditional librarianship often have reference jobs and other jobs with less sway on the big decisions
