Tom Delay is the former Majority leader of the House of Representatives. He was forced to step down from that position several months ago when he was indicted by a grand jury in Texas for money laundering and other fun stuff. Wow...that whole situation is kinda ghetto. I mean, who do you think you're kidding with the whole fake apartment [while the wife stays in TX!]?

I think it would be really funny if he was forced to stay on the ballot. Michael [who hadn't heard this] thinks that if Delay has to stay on he'll run a campaign for the other guy just telling people to write so-and-so in on the ballot. Eeeenteresting.

Thanks for the update. I'm severely news-deprived up here. :-(

I think it's hilarious. I learned something new last night. A lower court judge had issued the injunction preventing republicans from replacing Delay on the ballot. The repubs appealed to a federal court, believing the more conservative federal court would be more likely to rule in their favor than a state court. They evne drew a very conservative judge, appointed by Bush Sr. But even so, the judge ruled against Delay anyway.

There are 4 months until election day. It will take some time for an appeals court to take the case and rule on it. So either way, dems are in a much better spot. Lampson can use this time to continue to raise money and campaign. I agree with Michael though. If the ruling goes against him, Delay will probably do just that, backed with a lot of national republican money.

Hope you're having a good summer.
