I know - it IS odd. My hubby is baffled by it every weekend of the fall. ;)
We went to the Nets-Sonics game last night and I got to say hi and get a hug from Ray Allen on the Sonics -- we went to school together. Last night he was cold but it's so fun to see him go so far. It helps that he is the nicest guy. He's leaving 2 tix for my brother tonight at Will Call for the Sonics-Celtics game. My brother is SO psyched.
Well... there are four different covers and Duke IS on 1/4 of them (boo!). Hopefully NYC will get mostly UConn covers but I have a feeling Duke will get its share in this market.
Please please PLEASE stop dook. Crush them. Demolish them. Do whatever it takes.
As this is a serious rebuilding year for us, I'm trying to console myself that until next April WE'RE still the defending National Champs and dook can still go to hell.
You ARE! You are *definitely* still the champs. So Duke can whine about that until they get knocked out in March early - again! Have you seen Duke play yet? Word on "the street" is that they're not looking so good. I know they've only played BU so far but rumor has it that the Dookies looked sub-par. It's early yet... I shouldn't gloat. Have I told you that Coach K refuses to do a home & home series with UConn unless our "home" is MSG or Continental Arena? They won't play us in Hartford, CT or on UConn's campus. WIMPS!
I've seen you around in other friends' journals so I came over to see who you are - I was SO excited to find another gal out there who not only loves college basketball (March Madness if my *favorite* time of year) but is also a huge fan of my team - GO UCONN!! I've been a UCONN fan since I was born pretty much (grew up in CT, all of my aunts, uncles and cousins and most of my high school friends went to UCONN) and I'm always happy to find other passionate fans out there.
A bit about me -- I'm 27, grew up in CT now live in NYC, recently married, run a stationery business... that's pretty much the basic overview. I've friended you - hope you don't mind!
I went to UConn and cheered for the men's b'ball team there for three years (cheered for the women's team my freshmen year when we first won the national championship with Rebecca Lobo). I'm so excited that the season has now *really* started. We're going to the game on Saturday and I can't wait.

I think it's funny that you can take or leave football and LOVE bball - while in my house we are the exact opposite :-)
