San Francisco buddies -- I need a restaurant recommendation

Aug 24, 2006 14:05

My colleague and I will be in San Francisco on Monday night staying near Union Square. She wants to go some place fun for dinner and of course (since I lived there four years) thinks I should have all kinds of ideas and of course I don't. Any recommendations? Near our hotel is probably best.

Michael Mina would be great.

I also looooove Farallon. Best desserts in the city. Dinner is great as well and the atmosphere/decor is very fun.

I have been dying to go to Michael Mina.... you'll have to do a detailed recap of your meal! :)

HOWEVER, I'm not under the impression that it's the most "fun" restaurant - but I could be wrong. I'm under the impression it's more.... white tablecloth, formal, etc. Of course, I don't have any suggestions since I have lived in the city in a long time and the last year I lived there, I was pregnant, so I didn't go out that much....

My colleague poo-poo'd it. She said it was too stuffy. But the menu looked so yummy. She's a single gal and always wants to go to the fun/hip place. She can be tough to please...

BIL recommended Oola (in soma) and Myth. Every heard of those?

I've heard Myth is very good... but have not been there!

I've heard great things from a friend about Myth. She's been a number of times.
Other's are Masa's, Farallon, and Fleur de Lys. All in the Union Square vicinity. J and I don't get to the city much, but a friend of mine is a big time foodie and goes to all the best places like those I mentioned.
