I need him to not be dead

Okay, breaking radio silence to talk about my new fancy; ABC's Revenge, and a certain pairing from that show. Spoilers below the cut.

Okay, see, Tyler was a very, very annoying character; the kind you HATE to hate. He showed up as the male lead's old friend from university, and started to suck up to everyone who might be of use to him. Played the extremely wholesome well-adjusted straight guy angle, even though the audience soon figured out he was a right manipulative bastard. Totally Mr. Ripley light. Sounds good? Maybe, but it wasn't. He was dull as hell, and it was highly unclear what the hell he wanted to achieve anyway.

Then he turned out to be a psychopath proper. Normally, I don't do axe crazy, because - well - boring. But this time... hell, yeah! Of course, I want Tyler back on his pills, but the fact that he will completely and oh-so-violently lose it if he lays off them just works wonders for his character. I'm not exactly sure why, but yeah...

And, most importantly, he got involved with Nolan. It was not a nice relationship by any standards; they were both out to use each other, and the whole thing was messed up beyond belief from the very start. Obviously, I loved it. This, ladies and gentlemen, was FULLY REALIZED foe yay. And at the end of the day, we just don't get that very often, if ever. Enemy slash FTW!

It didn't exactly hurt that the actors had a chemistry between them that was off the charts, and managed to create so many different layers to both their characters and their relationship. Oh, and it seems they're both bisexual (the characters, not the actors - as far as I know). Again, doesn't happen very often - bi erasure is still very much the order of the day. :/

Of course, then they killed of Tyler. Brought him back from the nut house just to have him shot. To say that I am not amused would be much like saying that Darth Vader is not enamoured with the Jedi. He was just getting interesting! And though it was hard to see how his relationship with Nolan could recover from Tyler stabbing the latter (I told you it was messed up... ) there was such a wealth of possibilities in their connection.

As of now, Tyler's death is confirmed, though I try to find some solace in the fact that the director of the show has said that anyone can, potentially, come back. Still, I don't really see it happening.

And so I mourn my new ship that never really got to sail.
