Tremblingly weak, and shaking from exhaustion, Chloe knew what had to be done. She had to leave her hide-out and track down Derek. He had been gone too long. Either something terrible happened, or--

With a hacking cough that joggled her much-too sore head, Chloe moved down the stairs, clutching a small hatchet in her hand in case she came across any of those infected. She didn't need to search for Derek only to get herself killed in the meantime, after all.

She wasn't that dumb.

Another coughing bout shakes her form, however, and Chloe suddenly finds it hard to breathe. She leans against a stone wall for support, the room spinning and dropping out from under her feet, and desperately hopes she isn't about to turn into one of those things.

Heh. How funny. A necromancer, turned into a zombie.

Might make a good horror film.

Tumnus' front is covered with blood that is all too fresh as he shambles across the grounds. He fed on his first victim, but the anger that beats beneath his skin is unsatiable. He wants to kill and maim, to rend flesh from bone in the most violent and primal of manners ( ... )

Attempting to breathe through her coughing and the ache gradually growing in her head was quite the distraction. Her head felt much too hot, she probably had a fever, and she had already lost the non-contents of her stomach twice. Still. Even coughing comes to a rest eventually--and hoof-beats clomping her way down the stairs are not something she is going to miss when she is this panicked--even through her hazy sickness.

She is slower than she is used to, however, and her mind process has dimmed somewhat thanks to her high fever. Glassy eyes look slowly towards the staircase, her mind not processing what she was seeing. Blood. That became apparent first. Then a familiar face.

Tumnus.

Her grip on her ratchet tightens and she only has half a second to answer the slow question forming in her mind.

Foe.

Definitely foe.

A shriek forms in her throat and she turns to run, knowing it's much too late. Her panic rises as her stomach leaps to her throat.

Oh god, she was going to die!

Tumnus brings down the umbrella .. hard.

Then he leaps atop the girl with a gutteral snarl, pummeling with fists and raking with nails against any skin he can gain purchase on.

If he can get ahold of her, he'll pull her in and sink teeth into any flesh he can manage.

Chloe cries out at that first hit from behind--she knew she had started to run too late. As she falls to the ground, she's reminded of another time this happened to her--when Tori attacked her and left her in a crawl space with dead bodies. This was no crawl space, however the zombie was very real.

Panic seizes her. Chloe scrambles up to hands and knees automatically, then falls back down to the ground--air knocked from her lungs as Tumnus falls on her. Pain ensues, and Chloe holds her breath before giving in and crying out again. She doesn't want to be that damsel in distress found screaming her head off, but she's rather live through the humiliation than die here.

"D-d-d-don't!" Chloe attempts to roll over, only then remembering the small hatchet she has in hand. Her grip on it tightens as she twists for a better angle--when suddenly he's grabbing her and biting harshly into flesh ( ... )
